
Now in it's SIXTH year, our FREE family fundays programme remains the ONLY COMPLETELY FREE festival of fun in the borough!
Our amazing CAST Planning Group has secured just under £11,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund and we're gonna use every last penny to put on a massive programme of FREE family fundays ever - just for you!
With FIVE fundays at FIVE different locations, plus more stuff for you at the Ocean Road Mela, with all of the FREE entertainment you’ve come to expect, there's something for everyone no matter where you are in the borough!
REMEMBER - ALL OF THIS IS FREE!

25th July, 1-4pm: Hebburn Buffs (Hebburn Social Club, 68a William Street, Hebburn, NE31 1BZ)
PLEASE NOTE: we're mostly in the function room which is UPSTAIRS but we'll get as much as we can outside if the weather is good.

2nd August, 1-4pm: Barnes Institute (East Street, Whitburn, SR6 7BY)
PLEASE NOTE: of course, everyone’s welcome but we’re aiming this event at 12(ish!) years and under
9th August (more info see here) Ocean Road Mela: Ocean Road, South Shields
PLEASE NOTE: this is NOT our event but we’ll have free stuff there for you – facepainting, June & Ted’s trad games, belly-dancing, street games and more! We’ll be based near Ocean Road Community Centre so just ask us at our stall!
16th August, 1-4pm: Hedworthfield CA (Cornhill, NE32 4QD)

FAQs
Why are CAST doing this?
We believe that everyone should have access to some fun through the summer holidays, regardless of income - it really is that simple!
How do the fundays work?
Turn up, get your FREE wristband (1 per child), raffle ticket (1 per child) and bee seeds from the CAST team and enjoy!
What’s actually free?
Entry, all of the arts & crafts, face-painting, bouncy castle, karaoke, fun & games, candy floss and prize raffle. Check out each venue above.
What do I have to pay for?
Tombolas, stalls and any food or drinks available at the venue. The team at Hedworthfield CA have arranged a number of funfair rides for the day - please note that there will be a small charge for these.
What has CAST got at the ocean road mela? Is that free too?
The Mela is NOT our event but we’ll have free stuff there for you – facepainting, June & Ted’s trad games, belly-dancing and street games! We’ll be near Ocean Road Community Centre so just pop over!
How many fundays can I come to?
Bring the kids to as many as you want - there’s no limit!
Are the fundays disability-friendly?
We try as far as possible to keep the fundays accessible to children of all abilities - please see above for specifics on each venue.
Do I need to show I’m on benefits?
Absolutely not. CAST have absolutely no interest in your financial circumstances! These events are FREE for everyone to enjoy.
